The 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations was held in Morocco from July 5 to July 26, 2025. Twelve nations competed for the continental crown, with Nigeria claiming the title after a thrilling 3-2 victory over host nation Morocco in the final.
The tournament also served as a qualifier for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup, adding extra stakes to every match on the pitch.
Twelve teams were split into three groups of four. The top two from each group advanced directly to the quarter-finals, joined by the two best third-placed sides. Single-elimination knockout rounds followed through to the final.

Nigeria's Super Falcons overcame a spirited Moroccan side 3-2 in a gripping final, extending their record as the most successful team in the history of the tournament. It was their twelfth WAFCON title.
In the bronze-medal match, Ghana and South Africa could not be separated after 90 minutes, finishing 1-1 before Ghana won on penalties.
Launched in 1991, the Women's Africa Cup of Nations has been a catalyst for the growth of women's football across the continent. Nigeria have dominated the competition historically, while South Africa, Cameroon, and more recently Morocco have emerged as serious contenders.
Morocco's run to the 2024 final reflected the country's rising investment in women's football infrastructure and development programs.
